The Washington State Fair Foundation is pleased to present scholarship opportunities to Washington’s students for continuing education. Scholarship awards are made possible through the generosity of the Foundation’s donors and Board of Directors. The Fair Chance Scholarship application is available online. By completing our online application, we will automatically apply you for all online scholarships in which you qualify.
Scholarship Details
- $3,000 scholarship award
- 26 recipients chosen annually (20 high school seniors and six adult learners)
- Total of $159,000 awarded annually by the Washington State Fair Foundation
- Funds applied directly to tuition or books
- Application available online; one application considered for multiple eligible scholarships
Eligibility Criteria
- Graduating high school senior or adult learner (at least one year out of high school)
- Must be a resident of Washington state
- Must be attending an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or trade school
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 required
- Must currently work, volunteer, or participate in a school-sponsored activity for at least 8 hours per month
- Prior involvement with the Washington State Fair (4H, FFA, etc.) and financial need may be considered but are not required
Application Process
- Access the online scholarship application via the Washington State Fair Foundation website
- Complete the application in full to be automatically considered for all scholarships you qualify for
- Upload a most recent copy of your transcript (unofficial transcripts accepted)
- Request and submit two letters of recommendation:
- One from a scholastic contact
- One from an employer, volunteer supervisor, or advisor of a school-sponsored activity
- (Letters from relatives are not accepted)
- Submit your application and required documents before the stated deadline
The Washington State Fair Foundation awards $159,000 in scholarships annually to Washington students. The $3,000 Fair Chance Scholarship is awarded to 26 Washington students pursuing higher education. All funds are paid directly to the recipient’s college, university or trade school to be used toward tuition or books.
