The Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Program (GTEG) provides financial assistance to Georgia residents who attend eligible private colleges and universities in Georgia. The grant helps offset educational costs for eligible undergraduate students enrolled full time in a degree program.
Grant Details
- Award amount is $367 per quarter or $550 per semester
- Award amounts may change during the award year
- Students may receive payment for up to four quarters or three semesters per year
- Students cannot receive GTEG payments for more than 127 semester hours or 190 quarter hours
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a U.S. citizen or national of the United States, or provide evidence from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service of eligible permanent resident alien status
- Be a legal resident of Georgia
- Be enrolled as a full-time student at an eligible private college or university in Georgia
- Be an undergraduate student enrolled in a program of study leading to a college degree
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
- Comply with Selective Service registration requirements
- Not be in default on or owe a refund for a student financial aid program
- Comply with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990
Application Process
- Choose one of the two available application options for the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Program
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the online Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPP)
- If applying through the FAFSA, complete a new FAFSA each year
- Check with the participating college you plan to attend for its application deadline, as each college sets its own deadline for each school term
- Submit the required application by the participating college's applicable deadline
