The Hawaiian Financial Federal Credit Union (HIFICU) offers scholarships to Hawaii students pursuing higher education. Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors and college students, including those pursuing postgraduate studies, who plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States.
Scholarship Details
- Twenty scholarships of $2,000 each are available
- Scholarship decisions will be made in December
- Recipients will be notified by mail at the address provided on the application
- Award funds will be sent directly to the student's financial aid office for tuition and fees directly related to obtaining a degree
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a member or legal dependent of a member whose HIFICU account has been in good standing for at least three consecutive months
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or college student pursuing further education
- Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement, leadership, school and community service, recommendations and merit
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application form and provide all required information and original signatures
- Obtain a parent or legal guardian's signature if the applicant is a minor
- Request two original signed letters of recommendation from individuals who are not related to or living with the applicant
- Obtain certified sealed school transcripts for submission with the application
- Review the application package to ensure all required documents are included and submit it by the application deadline
- Recipients must sign a Media Release Form and provide a photograph
