The Juanita Buchanan Undergraduate Academic Scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior receiving dual college credit or an undergraduate matriculating at an accredited college or university within Dallas County. The winner will be selected based on the submitted documentation and recommendation letters, as well as, an interview.
Scholarship Details
- Awarded annually to one deserving student
- Open to eligible high school seniors and undergraduate students
- Recipient is selected based on application materials, recommendation letters, and an interview
- Scholarship recipient is honored during the chapter's spring recognition program
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a high school senior earning at least six dual-credit college hours or an undergraduate student attending an accredited two- or four-year college or university within Dallas County
- High school applicants must reside in and attend school in Dallas County (some exceptions may apply)
- College applicants must attend a college or university located within Dallas County
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85 on a 4.0 scale
- Must demonstrate involvement in community service and/or organized campus activities
Application Process
- Create the required Google Drive folder and organize all supporting documents according to the application instructions.
- Upload official transcript(s), including a college transcript for applicants to the Juanita Buchanan Undergraduate Academic Scholarship.
- Provide documentation of community service, extracurricular activities, and two letters of recommendation.
- Submit a 500-word-or-less essay explaining how your future profession will positively impact the world.
- Upload a current headshot in JPEG or PNG format.
- Complete the online application and include a shareable link to your Google Drive folder by the January 16 deadline.
- Participate in an interview if selected as a finalist.
The Juanita Buchanan Undergraduate Academic Scholarship is in memory of a devoted member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Kappa Zeta Chapter. During her life she belonged to many organizations and volunteered her services wherever needed. The Kappa Zeta chapter elected to set up a scholarship fund for collegians to honor her memory to our chapter.
