The Larry F. Ball Memorial Scholarship was established in 2019 as a tribute to the memory of Larry Ball by his family. He was the beloved father and grandfather of two daughters and two granddaughters. His outgoing spirit and friendly smile allowed him to touch the lives of many people around him. He was proud to call himself an Ohio State Buckeye and believed in the power of education, thus inspiring this scholarship fund.
Scholarship Details
- One $4,000 scholarship is awarded annually
- The award is issued once during the fall semester
- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the recipient's college account
- Funds may be used for tuition, books, and school fees
- Students may receive the scholarship only once and may not reapply in subsequent years
- The scholarship recipient will be selected by April 15th
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be female
- Must be a resident of Ohio
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university located in Ohio
- May be in any year of undergraduate study from the first through fourth year
- Must be committed to completing a bachelor's degree
- Must demonstrate community service and a commitment to future community involvement
- Nontraditional students are eligible to apply
Application Process
- Complete the Larry F. Ball Memorial Scholarship application.
- Prepare the required essay.
- Obtain a letter of recommendation from someone who is not a family member.
- Submit the completed application and all required materials by March 1.
- If selected, provide your name, student ID, university name, Financial Aid Office contact, and the address where the scholarship funds should be sent.
