The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program offers full-tuition scholarships to outstanding high school seniors in Indiana, helping to raise the state's educational attainment and strengthen community engagement. Through the Wayne County Foundation, the program supports students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to improving life in Indiana. Scholars receive four years of tuition at any accredited Indiana college or university, along with a book stipend and access to the Lilly Scholars Network.
Scholarship Details
- Full tuition and required fees for four years at any accredited four-year college or university in Indiana
- $900 annual book stipend
- Recipients recognized at the Wayne County Foundation’s Annual Summer Celebration
- Participation in the Lilly Scholars Network for leadership and networking opportunities
- Funded by the Lilly Endowment and administered locally by Indiana community foundations
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a resident of Wayne County, Indiana
- Must attend a Wayne County, Indiana high school
- Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of junior year
- Must graduate from an Indiana high school accredited by the State Board of Education or a recognized national/regional agency
- Must graduate by June 30th
- Must pursue full-time undergraduate study in a baccalaureate program
- Must attend an accredited public or private four-year institution in Indiana
Application Process
- Visit the Wayne County Foundation or your local community foundation website for application instructions
- Complete the scholarship application and provide required academic records
- Submit supporting documents including personal statements, recommendations, and transcripts
- Participate in interviews or additional evaluations if required by your local foundation
- Wait for award decisions and attend the Annual Summer Celebration if selected
Since the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program was first offered in 1998, Lilly Endowment has remained steadfast in its belief that education at all levels is indispensable to the personal, civic, and economic well-being of Indiana’s residents and communities. To date, 59 students have been awarded Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships through the Wayne County Foundation.
