The MECA Scholarship was established by the Minnesota Erosion Control Association (MECA) in 2007. MECA wishes to award this $1,000 scholarship to an individual who wants to pursue an engineering or science degree with an emphasis on erosion and sediment control or stormwater management.
Scholarship Details
- $1,000 scholarship awarded annually by the Minnesota Erosion Control Association
- Open to students pursuing degrees in engineering or science
- Emphasis on careers in erosion and sediment control or stormwater management
- Available to new college students and currently enrolled students
- Applicants may attend any accredited college or university, regardless of location
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Minnesota resident
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Must be pursuing or planning to pursue an engineering or science degree
- Must demonstrate interest in a career related to stormwater management or erosion and sediment control
- Should show evidence of leadership, community involvement, or special achievements
Application Process
- Complete the official MECA Scholarship Application form
- Write a one-page essay explaining why you deserve the MECA Memorial Scholarship
- Include your educational, career, and personal goals, along with any special interests or circumstances
- Describe leadership experiences, community service, and relevant achievements
- Format the essay in 11-point font with 1-inch margins, using your name and essay title as the header
- Submit the completed application and essay by mail or email (digital submission preferred)
Once awarded, proof of school registration for the upcoming semester is required before release of the scholarship check. You must furnish any other applicable transcripts you would like the Scholarship Committee to consider. All applicants will be notified, by email, of their eligibility and the results of their applications. The MECA Board of Directors reserve the right to abstain from awarding an annual scholarship. The scholarship winner will be invited to attend the Minnesota Erosion Control Association’s annual conference in January.
