Scholarship Description

The NCBFAA Scholarship Program supports students and industry members pursuing education in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, and related international trade fields. These competitive scholarships help offset the cost of higher education while preparing recipients for successful careers in global trade and supply chain management. The program reflects NCBFAA’s commitment to professional development and industry leadership.

Scholarship Details

  • Two scholarships awarded annually
  • $5,000 awarded to each recipient
  • Funds may be applied toward tuition and student housing
  • Scholarship payments made directly to the accredited institution
  • Round-trip airfare and one night hotel stay provided for award presentation
  • Awards presented at the NCBFAA Annual Conference in San Antonio in April

Eligibility Criteria

  • Employee or child of an employee of an NCBFAA Regular Member firm
  • High school senior, undergraduate student, graduate student, or eligible employee
  • Accepted to or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Intending to pursue or currently pursuing a career in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or a related international trade field

Application Process

  1. Prepare a typed, double-spaced essay of 1,000 to 2,000 words with bibliography on the assigned topic
  2. Obtain an employment verification letter from an NCBFAA Regular Member firm
  3. Provide proof of acceptance or enrollment, class year, and major area of study
  4. Write a personal statement of 100 words or less outlining career goals and research approach
  5. Mail the complete application package postmarked by February 2nd

Please note that this scholarship program is open to employees and children of employees of NCBFAA Regular Member firms ONLY. This includes high school seniors, as well as students or employees, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with an accredited college or university. The applicant should be intending to or already pursuing a career in Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding or a related field, such as international trade and supply chain management.
