Scholarship Description

Casella Environmental Waste Management academic scholarships are available to college or college-bound students who are pursuing majors in environmental studies, agriculture, or agricultural business, including waste management.

Scholarship Details

  • Sponsored by the Ontario County Board of Supervisors and Casella Waste Management
  • Awards eight scholarships of $2,500 each year
  • Supports students pursuing careers in environmental studies, agriculture, or waste management
  • Recipients are selected based on academic record, references, and a well-written essay
  • Scholarship funds are paid directly to the student’s college bursar office

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must reside in Ontario County, New York
  • Must be accepted into a recognized college-level program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident visa holder at the time of application
  • Must demonstrate dedication to a career supporting the environment, agriculture, or waste management
  • Must provide strong academic records, references, and an essay as part of the application

Application Process

  1. Confirm that you meet residency, citizenship, and academic program eligibility requirements
  2. Prepare your application materials, including academic records, references, and an essay
  3. Submit all materials electronically or mail them to Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County
  4. Application deadline is March 27th
  5. If selected, attend the award reception with your family prior to the July Board of Supervisors meeting

The Ontario County/Casella Waste Management Systems Scholarship will provide eight $2,500 scholarships to students who reside in Ontario County and are committed to college-level study in the fields related to environmental science, environmental engineering, agricultural, or waste management.
