Scholarship Description

Established in 2007, the SAE/Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies Scholarship was developed by the Ford Motor Company Fund and is for high school students participating in the Ford NGL Communities and Powered by Ford STEM Academies.

Scholarship Details

  • Supports high school students from Ford NGL Communities and Powered by Ford STEM Academies
  • Award is applied directly to the student’s university account in July or August
  • Funds may be used for tuition or other incidental educational expenses

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a U.S. resident
  • Must be an incoming college freshman
  • Must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0
  • Must plan to pursue an engineering or related science degree through a U.S. ABET-accredited program
  • Must provide two letters of recommendation:

    • One focusing on academic performance
    • One addressing extracurricular involvement or employment
  • Must be a current or recent student participant in the Ford NGL Network or a Powered by Ford STEAM Academy

Application Process

  1. Verify eligibility as a participant in the Ford NGL Network or Powered by Ford STEAM Academy
  2. Complete the official SAE/Ford scholarship application form
  3. Obtain two letters of recommendation, one academic and one related to activities or employment
  4. Prepare transcripts confirming an unweighted GPA of at least 3.0
  5. Submit all required documents by the stated deadline
  6. Await selection notification from the SAE Scholarship Committee by the end of June
