The Scott and Kim Verplank Foundation Scholarship provides financial support to high school seniors with Type 1 Diabetes who are beginning their undergraduate studies. Scholarship Details
- Award amount is up to $10,000
- Scholarships are renewable annually for up to four years
- Funds may be used toward tuition, student fees, and books
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a high school senior beginning undergraduate studies
- Must have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes during childhood
- Must successfully manage diabetes through appropriate medication, exercise and diet
- Must maintain a GPA above 3.0
- Must actively participate on an organized athletic team
- Must be a United States citizen
Application Process
- Begin the application on or after January 1st of your senior year
- Complete all required sections of the scholarship application and provide supporting documentation and endorsements
- Submit the completed application by the deadline to be considered for funding beginning in the upcoming fall
- Respond to any requests for additional information during the review process, which may include a Supplemental Survey or Budget
- Wait for the Foundation Board of Directors to announce scholarship selections in late June; all applicants will receive an email with their application status
- If selected, review the Award Activation and Renewal Requirements provided by the Foundation and complete all requirements to maintain the scholarship
