Scholarship Description

The D’Andre D. Lampkin Foundation believes that building stronger communities requires teamwork and the cultivation of future leaders. To achieve this, the organization has created the Social Good Scholarship Program. The foundation defines “social good” as the actions taken to serve communities in ways that benefit society as a whole and propel these communities forward.

Scholarship Details

  • Emphasizes the importance of "social good" actions that serve communities and propel them forward.
  • Based on research showing that a significant percentage of global consumers prefer socially responsible companies and organizations.
  • Promotes community engagement and volunteer programs, fostering teamwork, motivation, and purpose within companies and organizations.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to students currently enrolled at a U.S. accredited public or private high school (full-time home-schooling students are not eligible).
  • Applicants must be in their junior or senior year to qualify for an award.
  • If a junior is selected as a scholarship winner, the award will be presented upon enrollment in their freshman semester/quarter of college.
  • Requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 or equivalent at the institution from which the student is applying.

Application Process

  1. Create a short video (30 seconds to 3 minutes) designed for platforms like YouTube.
  2. In the video, explain how you are strengthening your community and why civic engagement is essential. Use entertainment, emotion, creativity, and/or humor to inspire others to get involved.

Video Eligibility:

  • Your video should be 30 seconds to 3 minutes long.
  • It must be in a compatible YouTube format with the proper codecs.
  • The content should be fact-based and free from misleading or false information.
  • Include all required elements, including a video link, team information, and video information.
  • Ensure your video meets length requirements and is submitted before the stated deadline.

It is expected that recipients will demonstrate exemplary academic achievement. Currently, provisions have been made for a minimum of three (3) students per year. Preference will be given to students who show interest in working in public service. Students will also have to complete a phone interview with the Lampkin Foundation to finalize the application process.will be contacted directly to schedule the interview after the deadline date.
