Scholarship Description

This scholarship was created to honor the life and legacy of an amazing and loving mother, wife, and friend, Aniekan "Annie" Ibok. Annie invested greatly in the futures of children, extending well beyond her own. In turn, we hope to invest small seeds in the futures of HBCU-bound students, many of whom will go on to impact the world in astounding ways.

Scholarship Details

  • Supports students planning to attend a Historically Black College or University
  • Emphasizes leadership, service, and community involvement
  • Requires written responses to scholarship essay questions
  • Encourages applicants to explore the history and mission of their chosen HBCU
  • Recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to educational and community advancement

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must plan to attend or be enrolled at a Historically Black College or University
  • Must complete all required scholarship application materials
  • Must submit responses to the required essay questions
  • Must demonstrate an interest in leadership, service, and community engagement
  • Must meet any additional requirements established by the scholarship sponsor

Application Process

  1. Complete the scholarship application form
  2. Prepare written responses to all required essay questions
  3. Discuss personal leadership qualities and how they align with the values of your chosen HBCU
  4. Research the historical and social context surrounding the founding of your HBCU and explain its significance
  5. Describe your understanding of service and how you plan to give back to your community through your education
  6. Provide your perspective on the continuing relevance and importance of HBCUs in modern society
  7. Submit all application materials before the stated deadline

Historically, the Annie Ibok Scholarship has been a one-time award of $1000. As these scholarships are self-funded, the award amount may change in the future. Award money is distributed directly to the university that the recipient attends in the Fall. In certain situations, the award money will be sent directly to the recipient.
