The DOE CSGF is open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents who plan full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. at an accredited U.S. university.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Must plan full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. at an accredited U.S. university
- Must enroll at a different institution for Ph.D. studies if currently in a master’s program
- Must be an undergraduate senior, a first-year graduate student (must not have completed more than one year of coursework), a current master's degree student (must enroll at a different institution for Ph.D.), or an employed individual or other applicant matriculating into graduate school
Application Process
- Complete and submit the online application by the specified deadline
- Provide supporting materials, including academic transcripts and research statements
- Demonstrate alignment of research interests with DOE priorities
- Await notification regarding fellowship selection
During the fellowship period, fellows are required to be enrolled as full-time graduate students at an accredited U.S. college or university and conduct research in areas of interest to the DOE. The summer should be spent conducting full-time research related to the completion of one's degree program, enrolled in classes or on a practicum assignment.
