Scholarship Description

The DOE CSGF is open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents who plan full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. at an accredited U.S. university.

Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • Must plan full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. at an accredited U.S. university
  • Must enroll at a different institution for Ph.D. studies if currently in a master’s program
  • Must be an undergraduate senior, a first-year graduate student (must not have completed more than one year of coursework), a current master's degree student (must enroll at a different institution for Ph.D.), or an employed individual or other applicant matriculating into graduate school

Application Process

  1. Complete and submit the online application by the specified deadline
  2. Provide supporting materials, including academic transcripts and research statements
  3. Demonstrate alignment of research interests with DOE priorities
  4. Await notification regarding fellowship selection

During the fellowship period, fellows are required to be enrolled as full-time graduate students at an accredited U.S. college or university and conduct research in areas of interest to the DOE. The summer should be spent conducting full-time research related to the completion of one's degree program, enrolled in classes or on a practicum assignment.
