Scholarship Description

The mission of The National GEM Consortium is to enhance the value of the nation’s human capital by increasing the participation of underrepresented groups (African Americans, American Indians, and Hispanic Americans) at the master’s and doctoral levels in engineering and science. GEM recruits high quality underrepresented students looking to pursue Master’s and Doctoral degrees in applied science and engineering, and matches their specific skills to the specific technical needs of GEM employer members.

GEM offers MS and Ph.D. level students an outstanding opportunity and access to dozens of the top Engineering and Science firms and Universities in the nation. The GEM Fellowship was designed to focus on promoting opportunities for individuals to enter industry at the graduate level in areas such as research and development, product development, and other high level technical careers. GEM also offers exposure to a number of opportunities in academia. GEM provides three of the following fellowship programs: the first of which is the MS Engineering fellowship. Secondarily to that, GEM also provides the Ph.D. Engineering fellowship. Lastly, GEM provides the Ph.D. Science fellowship. Applicants must either be Native American, black or Latino. The complete application annual deadline is at 11:59 pm Eastern Time on the second Friday in November.
