Cornerstone Charitable Scholarship Trust, Inc. supports African American high school and post high school graduates across the State of Arkansas, under age 25 and eligible applicants with funding resulting from the Mauldin vs. Arkansas State Hospital Consent Decree, United States District Court No. LR-C-8777.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarship supports Black and African American students under age 25 from Arkansas
- Available for those planning to attend or currently attending an accredited university, college, or vocational school
- Awards based on academic standing, financial need, and availability of funds
- Initial applications must be received by March 30 of the year preceding college enrollment
- Current recipients must submit updated application materials each year for renewal consideration
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a Black or African American between 17 and 25 years old who is economically disadvantaged
- Applicant must have completed a high school diploma at the time of application
- Applicant must plan to attend or be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited university, college, or vocational school
- Applicant must have roots in the State of Arkansas
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or U.S. Permanent Resident
Application Process
- Complete the online application form in full
- Provide a copy of your current driver's license
- Submit a copy of your college acceptance letter
- Include parents and or student tax returns
- Submit your most recent transcript
- Write and include an essay of 250 words or less describing your achievements and career goals
- Mail the completed application and required attachments by March 30th
Current recipients must submit an updated application, college transcript and proof of college attendance for the current college semester each year for consideration of continuation of scholarship funding. As a private foundation, this organization supports charitable and/or educational endeavors. Scholarship awards are based on academic standing, financial need and availability of funds.
