Scholarship Description

The Sacramento Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR/Sacramento) is excited to offer the High School Scholarship Essay Contest in collaboration with Americans Against Gun Violence. This contest invites California high school students to submit a 500-word essay reflecting on a significant aspect of gun violence prevention. With a substantial scholarship fund, this contest aims to engage young minds in critical thinking about gun control and its implications in the United States.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to all California high school students
  • Submission of an original 500-word essay
  • Essay topic based on the Supreme Court’s 2008 Heller decision impact

Application Process

  1. Review the mission statement on gun violence prevention at the PSR/Sacramento website
  2. Write an original essay of 500 words or fewer on the given topic
  3. Submit the essay through the online entry form on the Americans Against Gun Violence website
  4. Ensure submission by the deadline, Saturday, April 20
