Each year, the Education Scholarship Foundation awards $1,500 scholarships, in addition to other awards. The selection process uses a combination of weighted criteria: 40% financial need, 40% academic achievement and 20% personal statement.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant's parent or legal guardian must have a primary residence that receives electricity from one of the 16 electric cooperatives served by the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC)
- Applicants must be graduating seniors from a high school or homeschool program
- Applicants must be entering their first semester at a post-secondary or trade school in the following fall
Application Process
- Confirm that your parent or legal guardian's primary residence receives electricity from an eligible electric cooperative served by the VMDAEC
- Verify that you are a graduating high school or homeschool senior
- Confirm that you will begin your first semester at a post-secondary or trade school in the following fall
- Prepare your application materials, including information demonstrating financial need, academic achievement, and your personal statement
- Submit the completed scholarship application according to the foundation's application instructions
The Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) Education Scholarship Foundation recently awarded $165,000 in 2026 scholarships to 92 high school seniors across the service territories of its 16 member electric cooperatives.
