  • Scholarship Description
  • The AbbVie CF Scholarship provides financial assistance toward higher education for exceptional students living with cystic fibrosis (CF). Forty AbbVie CF Scholars will be selected to receive $3,000 for use during the upcoming academic year based on their outstanding academic record, extracurricular activities, and creativity. Each scholar will also be given the opportunity to compete for one of two (2) Thriving Student Scholarships (based on the level of study) for a total amount of $24,000 each. It is not necessary for applicants to have taken, currently take, or intend to take in the future, any medicine or product marketed by AbbVie, and this will not be a consideration in the recipient selection criteria.

    Eligibility:
    -A United States citizen or a legal and permanent resident of the United States
    -Diagnosed with CF by a physician
    -Enrolled in or awaiting acceptance from an accredited institution (i.e., college, university, or trade/vocational school) for an educational program during the upcoming academic year

    Employees of AbbVie and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply. Healthcare providers and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply.

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
