  • Scholarship Description
  • The Dallas Foundation manages a number of scholarships for students with diverse interests. The Tommy Trachin Award was established at The Dallas Foundation to support students with physical, emotional, or intellectual disabilities who have shown promise or passion in a chosen field of interest. Tommy's family wants to recognize his creativity and his refusal to allow his disability to limit his personal growth by helping others develop their own talents.

    Eligibility:
    -You are a high school level student in North Texas
    -You have a physical, emotional, or intellectual disability
    -You want to participate in an activity that will help strengthen your skills in your particular area of interest

    Please note that the Tommy Tranchin Award is not intended to offset costs associated with obtaining a college or university degree.

A Cornell University senior presented a trial run of her senior thesis wearing nothing but her bra and panties in protest of her professor's comments about the length of the shorts she was wearing. Offended and taken aback by the comments, she further invited others to support her on the day of the presentation by stripping down to their undergarments with her during her 15-minute address. [...]
