  • Scholarship Description
  • Since 1990, FMA’s foundation, Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, has awarded scholarships to students majoring in programs that lead to careers in manufacturing. Scholarships are awarded twice a year, in the Spring and in the Fall.

    To apply for The John Grossheim Memorial Scholarship (OPC Endowment)you must:
    -Have a 3.0 GPA (or an 85% competency score) and be currently enrolled in or entering a university engineering program, or related field
    -Submit an official high school or college transcript
    -Submit an on-line application
    -First preference will be given to employees or child/spouse of an employee of an OPC member company
    -Secondary preference will be given to students seeking degrees in fields of study related to the steel or metals processing industry
    -Students must have a 3.0 GPA for university studies or a 2.5 GPA for a two-year technical school studies at the time of application.

    Winners will receive a student version of SolidWorks CAD Software.
    If you are selected to receive a scholarship, after receiving award notification, you must become a student member* of FMA, TPA, or OPC, if no active affiliation exists in any one of the following categories:
    -You are already a student member or individual member
    -You are the child of an individual member
    -You are an employee of a Company Member
    -You are the child of an employee of Company Member

Graduate student assistants across the nation are pushing for a $15 per hour stipend, which they believe is a "minimum living wage." Graduate students have attributed the 29 percent stipend increase at Emory University to their successful campus advocacy. [...]
