  • Scholarship Description
  • This program is open to students enrolled full-time in a field of study mutually beneficial to the company and the individual. The program assists students in achieving their fullest potential by providing a $5,000 scholarship and a paid summer internship. These paid internships allow students to develop their skills by working side-by-side with our professionals, learning new skills and sampling new technologies involved in the energy industry.

    Eligibility:
    -All applicants must be enrolled/registered as a full-time student for the current academic year at an accredited 4-year college or university
    -At the time of applying, applicants must be a college freshman, sophomore or junior. High school seniors will need to show proof of acceptance
    Acceptance of a scholarship requires the applicant commit to a paid 10-12 week intern work session during the summer.
    -Work session contingent on satisfactory completion of normal pre-employment requirements. Scholarship awards are subject to: a) satisfactory completion of the summer work session, and b) receipt of the applicant's final transcripts, which must include the fall semester
    -If currently enrolled in a 2-year college program, students must be pursuing a transfer degree such as an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), and Associate of Arts and Sciences (AA&S)

    Applicants must submit a 1000-1250 word essay on the following topic: At Dominion, diversity describes the variety of qualities that makes each person unique. It goes beyond race, age, and gender to include attributes that cannot be seen by others.

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
