  • Scholarship Description
  • A recent study by Gallup shows that while nearly 95% of U.S. adults support organ donation, only 50% have signed up on a state donor registry. There are still not enough donors to save the lives of the more than 124,000 individuals currently
    on the transplant waiting list.

    Eligible students must reside and attend high school in one of the following locations:
    -Virginia: Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Clarke, Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, and Fauquier as well as the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas, and Manassas Park
    -Maryland: Montgomery, Prince George's, and Charles
    -The District of Columbia
    -Eligible students must write an essay or produce a video that will convince an audience to register to be organ, eye, and tissue donors.

A controversial immigration debate was canceled this week by a student group at The University of Chicago - a university which "prides itself on protecting free speech, even offensive speech."
