  • Scholarship Description
  • Two (2) Two Men and a Truck Moving Up With Education scholarships are offered each year to any graduating senior who attends the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system. The first is a renewable $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to an individual who will pursue a degree in education. The second is a renewable $500 scholarship that will be awarded to an individual who is entering a technical institution.

    Application requirements include: completed application; transcript from current high school; letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher or administrator; two (2) reference letters from two (2) individuals who are of no family relation; completion of the following essay in 1000 words or less: "Describe three of these core values. How have you implemented them in your education, community, and/or church involvement?"

    Each of the Moving Up With Education scholarships is renewable up to three consecutive years based on the following requirements: maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher; and continuing to live the core values of Two Men and a Truck.

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
