The Ruth Suckow Iowa Student College Scholarship is a $1,000 College Scholarship to the author of the best essay on Iowa Writer Ruth Suckow’s first novel Country People (set in Iowa) or on one or more of these Suckow short stories: “A Start in Life”; “A Great Mollie”; “Midwestern Primitive”; “A Rural Community”; “Resurrection.” (All of these works are free and available online).
Teacher Award: $500 to the student’s teacher (if there is one) for classroom materials, education, or other allowed use. Eligible students: Iowa AP High School Students; Iowa Community College Students; Iowa College & University; and Undergraduate and Graduate Students. Essay Length: 2,500 to 5,000 words, submitted electronically by the January 1st deadline.
