CSHEMA offers a $3,000 scholarship (and a waiver to attend the CSHEMA annual conference) to encourage the study of environmental and occupational health, safety, and related disciplines. The program is open to all college undergraduate students preferably enrolled in majors geared toward an EHS career (such as, but not limited to, environmental science, fire protection, health physics, industrial engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational health, safety, etc.) enrolled in 12 credit hours per semester, trimester, or quarter.
-Applicants must have at least one full year of study remaining in their degree program
-Submit an official transcript with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5; 2) complete application form; 3) write and submit an essay
-The application, essay and an official transcript (delivered in sealed envelope with university/college seal) must be placed in the same envelope and mailed by March 31 to the address above. Any additional, extraneous materials (photos, resumes, research materials, etc.) will not be considered and will be discarded.
The scholarship, which is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Fay Thompson, will be presented or announced at the CSHEMA annual conference, The scholarship winner is awarded $3,000 and an invitation to attend the CSHEMA annual conference (registration, hotel, and airfare included).
Essay question: "Describe an occupational health, occupational safety or campus environmental issue relevant to your university/ college or community (provide supporting information, facts and data). Examine and discuss what actions and/or programs are needed to solve this issue."
