  • Scholarship Description
  • The Beverly J. Smith Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Harrisburg Branch of AAUW to honor our past President, Ms. Smith. AAUW would like to honor her memory by assisting in the education of a woman working toward a bachelor’s degree. Applicants must be a permanent resident of Dauphin, Cumberland or Perry County; attend an accredited college or university located in Pennsylvania and have completed at least 60 credits toward a bachelor’s degree by end of May. Student Group Cancels Controversial Debate at University of Chicago

A controversial immigration debate was canceled this week by a student group at The University of Chicago - a university which "prides itself on protecting free speech, even offensive speech." The Edmund Burke Society, a conservative parliamentary debating society, canceled the debate, claiming it "could not assure an orderly event," particularly following the uproar over how the group had described the event.
