Delaware Open Cross Country Championship Scholarships

  • Scholarship Description
  • Nominees must be Delaware residents who have participated in high school cross country program(s) during junior and senior years; have an unweighted, cumulative GPA of 2.5 in high school core curriculum; and plan to enroll full-time in a two- or four-year program of study at a regionally accredited college. Based 50 percent on financial need, 25 percent on academic achievement, and 25 percent on participation in cross country programs. In the event of two (2) equally qualified applicants, preference will be given to students who are All-State selection, All-County selection, and/or All-Catholic selection.

    Applicants must be nominated by their cross country coach. Each high school that is a member of the New Castle County Cross Country and Track Coaches Association (N5CTA) may nominate one male and one female high school senior.

"OK to Be White" Signs a "Sign of the Times"?

"It's okay to be white" signs were scattered on college campuses across the country, as well as in Canada over the past week. Reportedly, the signs were first suggested on an online chat forum called 4chan, calling on people to place posters in their area on Halloween night. At Harvard Law School, at least 20 handmade stickers with the message "It's ok to be white" were posted on light poles and electrical boxes. Harvard Law's Dean of Students Marcia Sells condemned the posters, stating the posters and stickers are "intended to divide us from one another" and that "HLS will not let that happen here." The Department of Public Works removed the stickers shortly thereafter. Even after they had been removed, the message continued to circulate via social media through hashtags and videos, gaining both condemnation and support. [...]
