The ISA exists to promote and increase interest in harness horses and harness racing; to represent and establish cooperation between county, state, and pari-mutuel racetrack operations, breeders, owners, trainers, drivers, and grooms; to sponsor and promote Standardbred racing, breeding, training, and development programs in the State of Indiana; to represent horsemen/women for negotiations with racetrack operations and to take other actions in the furtherance of the Standardbred Racing Industry in the state of Indiana.
-Applicant/parent/grandparent or guardian must be a current ISA Member and hold either an IHRC Standardbred license or USTA membership
-Applicant/parent/grandparent/guardian must be an Indiana resident by April 30
-Applicant must be working towards a two-year associate's, a four-year bachelor's degree, or a technical trade school
-Applicant's course of study or career objectives must be directly related to horse racing in Indiana. Examples of qualifying areas of study include, but are not limited to equine health and/or science and/or nutrition, equine chiropractic studies/equine massage, equine law, equine dentistry, veterinary medicine, veterinary technical, judges/stewards accreditation school, farrier school, and the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program
-Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours)
-Applicant must be at least a high school senior
-Applicant must have a 2.8 GPA or higher
-Applicant may reapply each year but must request an application on an annual basis
