  • This program is offered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority through College Foundation Inc., to provide financial assistance to needy North Carolina resident students attending eligible colleges and universities located within the state of North Carolina.

    Grants and Scholarships are awarded based on information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must fill out the FAFSA to be eligible for this grant.

Hello, My name is Heather Straka. I have applied for FAFSA, however I did not receive any assistance for college. I have been accepted to the University of Mount Olive. I have my Associate's of Applied Sciences in Early Childhood education. My goal is to receive my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood education and to become a teacher for young children. My husband is a Marine serving on active duty and it will be hard for us to afford schooling out of pocket. Any help received would be greatly appreciated. I'm a super senior in the early college program at Columbus Career & College Academy. My GPA is 3.67. I've just recently received my high school diploma and Associates in Arts degree. To pursue my degree in Criminal Justice. I plan on using the reward given to become an Undercover Agent for the CIA. My name is Eileen. I’m a senior in high school. I got accepted to WCU. I applied for my fafsa. I recently received my status on my application. My grant isn’t enough to cover my first year so I need to take out loans to cover my expenses. Since the six grade I’ve wanted to become a nurse. I’m currently in nursing fundamentals and on my way to getting my CNA license. My GPA is at a 4.4. Anything will be greatly appreciated.

i also applied for fafsa, however, I have to pay out of pocket too. I know there are people out there who need financial assistance. i am one of those people. My fafsa was not enough to cover all of my tuition. I work full time just to get by. I would love it if I won, because that would help me out more.

Harvard Supporters Back University in Admissions Trial

Harvard students and alumni will testify in support of Harvard during the admissions trial this week, defending its "race-conscious admissions policy" against claims that it discriminates against Asian-American applicants. The trial is the latest chapter in a lawsuit filed in 2014 by Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA).

Harvard University has been accused of "balancing its undergraduate classes to ensure that it had admitted its desired share of students of each race and ethnicity" and also for penalizing Asian-American applicants by "systematically giving them lower scores on a metric admissions officers use to measure personality." Adam Mortara, a lawyer representing SFFA, stated that the university scores applicants in four categories: academic achievement, athletic ability, extracurriculars, and personality. While referencing admissions data, he concluded that, despite their higher academic performance, Asian-Americans are admitted at lower rates. [...]
