The purpose of the Zeta Phi Beta, EPZ Academic Scholarship is to assist graduating high school seniors in obtaining a college education and to promote Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. This scholarship targets under-represented minority students (African-Americans, Latinos, and Native Americans) who are currently high school seniors in New Castle County, Delaware. It is particularly aimed at African-American females. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was founded on the simple belief that sorority elitism and socializing should not overshadow the real mission for progressive organizations to address societal mores, ills, prejudices, poverty, and health concerns of the day. The sorority's founders dared to depart from the traditional coalitions for black women and sought to establish a new organization predicated on the precepts of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.
