Krystal Lassatha Baleros  on 11/18/2021 7:19:33 AM

Hi, I am Krystal and I am from the Philippines. I moved here to the US in June 2021 to be with my mom, I told my mom about going to college but because of a lack of money, I still need to work to earn for my college. I work at night for about 30-40hrs a week to help my mom with our expenses. I did some research about scholarships and I found this site and got interested. I told myself that this is the best way to do to go to college, continue my studies, and strive for my goals in life. I grab this opportunity to join the program and I hope someone will recognize my statement and grant me a scholarship to continue my college. And I promised my parents that someday I will my them proud.

Both my parents were born in Vietnam and met each other through mutual friends. I am applying for this scholarship because my parents worked so hard to start my mothers nail salon business which is going down hill due to the pandemic. My father recently lost his job and has been doing the best he can with trying to find a job, he even started going to a college course to help build up his education but it has been 4 months and everyday becomes a bigger struggle. Since August, I have been working as an assistant teacher at a daycare on the weekdays and on the weekends, I help out at a local restaurant to make any extra cash I can to be able to pay off my tuition so I do not burden my parents with another bill to pay. This scholarship will be such a huge help for me and my family. Thank you so much!

Joshua I.  on 1/8/2021 3:32:39 AM

Great day. I'm a college sophomore from Adamson University. I am applying for the scholarship seeing as my mother had a lot to think about how she'd sustain my studies after my father passed away last year of 2020. We rely heavily mostly on the financial assistance of my father from the government because he has been disabled while working. The support was adequate until I complete my degree, but now my father is gone, the assistance needs to be ended. My mother has to work now, but it wasn't enough. My oldest sister and my mother, who have a blue collar job, have been the only pillar of our revenue for now. Today, with every scholarship I will apply on, I hope to perhaps reduce my burden to my family until I am the one who will support them and for the community as well.

Saniya A  on 1/6/2021 2:47:37 PM

I am a motivated, aspiring law professional seeking opportunities to learn the skills necessary to be an effective Lawyer after earning a Bachelor of Science in Political Science at Texas A&M University at College Station and acquiring the proper degree, communicating with clients face-to-face, and assisting them with any legal issues. Afterward, I plan on pursuing a Doctor of Juridical Science Degree. As a senior in high school, college is very close and I don't come from a very financially stable family. I would like to receive this scholarship because I know that my family and I won't be able to pay off my college tuition. I am a first-generation student aspiring to get an education and help out my family along with my community in the future.

Shauntavian Martin  on 1/3/2021 1:35:11 PM

Good Afternoon, I am a police cadet at my local vocational school, and have never applied for a scholarship. My father was deported back to Cambodia in 2018, and my mother passed from an overdose last year. I am currently raising my son by myself, and am struggling to support him as well as pay for school. I am the child of an immigrant, and a previous foster care child who is in a country with no family or friends besides my 1 year old son. My goal is to show my son that even in the darkest of times, we as individuals can be the light. I have chosen to pursue Law Enforcement because of the circumstances revolving around American citizens and the Legal System. I want to show the nation that tough times don't last, but tough people do. I want to make a change, no matter how insignificant it may seem to some. I want to be the person that I needed when I was a child.

Hi, out of millions of students like me looking up to be blessed by this scholarship I know that there's only a portion of 0.0001% that you'll actually read what I've written; but I'll still take the risk. To be born poor is not your fault but to die poor is your fault" as quoted by Bill Gates. For me yes it is true, but to be given education and to put it into waste is more heartbreaking. I am indeed one of many teenagers born in a poor family. We strive so hard everyday to survive, hoping that education will someday raise us from this uncertainties and somehow have a comfortable life. It is tough, life. That everyday as we struggle to live we would always be tempted to lose grip on hope. But no we won't. I will always strive to find light. This scholarships you are giving us is hope for people like me. I have come all my way here in college and I won't give everything up just because if financial instability. I want to make a change, to make a difference; to have a significant contribution on my time being here on earth. With the right education will only make it possible. I am a second year Architecture student from the Philippines in Lucena City, Quezon Province. I pray to God that you'll shed light and help me on my battle. To win and to inspire other people like me .

Breanna M.  on 11/23/2020 2:06:05 PM

Hello, I am Breanna Michener, and I am a freshman at Clemson University pursuing a BSN in Nursing. I am a Vietnamese female living in the United States as a citizen. My mother immigrated from Vietnam during the Vietnam war because my grandfather, who has recently passed, worked for the U.S. Embassy over in Saigon which is now Ho Chi Minh City. He was able to obtain a Visa to relocate his family from the boiling communist atmosphere of Vietnam to the freedom lands of America. My mother and her family faced many hardships throughout their new life in the United States. They had to move from military camp to military camp until they finally settled in South Carolina. She faced much adversity in her new life with fellow peers bullying her for being Asian and mocking her looks and accent. Similar to her, I, too, faced adversity. Students at my elementary, middle, and high school would tease me for my looks and place typical Asian stereotypes on me. However, I did not let the adversity stop me from pursuing my dreams to become a Nurse Anesthetist. I studied and worked hard throughout high school and finished 12th in a class of 570 students with a 5.19 GPA. I ran Varsity track throughout high school and played lacrosse while, also, working at a Chinese takeout restaurant. The recent passing of my grandfather from unknown causes and the adversity my family and I have faced, has influenced me to pursue a career in the medical field because I do not want patients feeling hopeless and helpless as I sometimes did. I want to help heal and guide them to allow them to live a long and happy life, full of bright memories with their family and friends. By becoming an Asian-American in the medical field, I will not only be able to do that, but I will, also, prove societal gender and ethnic roles and standards wrong. I want to honor my family's legacy and ethnic background by becoming the first to enter the medical field in my family and be a role model for other female Asian-Americans

Although I am an athlete, it doesn't mean that I'm not a student neither. I currently hold a 4.0GPA through independent studies and I've been holding my GPA since I transferred. I've been through various struggles in my life, one of them which had caused me to lose my vision and resulting in a detached retina. I underwent 3 surgeries which took a toll on me mentally, physically, and academically. I missed most of my sophomore year and even my wrestling season. But never has it made it to where I would give up on my career altogether, after I transferred to Vallejo high I had maintained a 4.0 GPA, I Made a comeback in my wrestling career being the only girl in varsity and captain. I made it all the way to state and even started to get college recognization. Batoul Al-Zoubi  on 11/4/2020 9:25:17 AM

Hi i'm Batoul Al-zoubi. im a junior in Athensdrive high school but I'm graduating a year early. i am in need for scholarships as my family isn't very financially stable. though I had never let our circumstance affect my education and performance in school. i am a muslim woman who has been in a private islamic school since elementary and going to a pubic high school was an extreme cultural shock to me.even hough there are such amazing openminded people at my new school. I had still dealt with biasness, discrimination and much more. However I am not just a victim. These experiences have taught me that I am able to use my skills, voice, and courage to advocate for all people and for justice. I have built up the courage to fight and denounce injustice so that no one else has to face it. I realized as minorities, we tend to be looked down upon, often pushed to the corner, and expected to watch while the privileged or ignorant walk all over us. Due to this, I began putting myself out there to bring diversity to events as I plan to do the same at my future university if given my financial needs. For example, I became the first Muslim girl in many years to join our school track team. I share my stories of injustice to spread awareness. I started taking leadership positions in service and community clubs, holding food drives and fundraisers, and educating my peers about justice on my social media platforms. By showing the best of myself, I have become known around the school as a person who has challenged biases and stereotypes against Muslims. I plan on doing the same and much more if given the opportunity to receive this generous scholarship

Miya S.  on 10/28/2020 12:01:40 AM

Hello! My name is Miya Sylva, I currently attend the University of Nevada Reno and I am majoring in veterinary science. My family and I live on the Island of Maui; my father is hawaiian/portugese and my mother is japanese/chinese/hawaiian. I believe that applying to this scholarship will allow me the opportunity to continue on wit my college education. By applying to this, it will be of an advantage to both me and my family due to the high cost of my tuition, which is $13,000+. My parents have been in financial struggle for a great while and I believe that with this tuition, it will help pay off my expenses and lessen the stress on my parents. As a first generation student, I haven't yet been familiarized with the way higher ed works along with unfamiliarity of what college actually really is. During this pandemic, I haven't been allowed to apply for any jobs, which would have been my source of income, but due to unprecedented times, I am unable to pay for my tuition in anyway, except for the student loans that are being used to help pay.

First, Thank you for started to read my condition right now. I'm 20 years old guy from India, Currently pursuing my senior year in Mechatronics engineering and pulling hard to pursue my desired career. I love to learn more and do more in this environment. I applied many colleges to do correspondence studies and gratefully I've been selected for B,sc computer science program in UOL. My entire family is happy that I got this opportunity, and It is like a magic ladder I got, to get into a bright future but I don't have the potential to climb the ladder, which is financially we are poor. My father was working for daily wages in one small covering jewel shop for 30 years, His total monthly income is around 110 euros, and he was cycling 45 KM every day to run my family. For my bachelor's, I asked many people to support but no one helped for my education. My parents got many debts to educate my brother and me. Till now, we have an many debts because of my education and my father's income is not enough to run both my family and debts. So, my parents only expectation is me, I want to give them bright future. After getting an offer letter from UOL, I asked many for the help but no one replied me. But, I won’t give up, every minute I'm contacting supporters because without the support I can't get into UOL. I want to be part of UOL, and I want help to push my desire in the right way. From my age 8, I was working part-time like selling toys in the platform, worked in a juice shop, for food catering, app promotion till now working to manage my basic essence. Every day improving my skills, learning anything that helps for my future. In my 10th grade, I Got 84% overall and In my High school I got 78% and then I chose to do My bachelor's in Mechatronics Engineering at Bharath Institute Of Higher Education And Research. Till now, I completed 5 semesters out of 8 and My overall GPA is 7.5 out of 10. In my college, we have ROBOTICS RESEARCH CENTER and I'm part of that la

I want to study nursing not only for my dream job but I really want to help people that have like medical needs because I know what are the feeling of needing something that you can't get/afford. I am starting saving money now by online selling of various products and I know it is not enough. I am completely out of financial support so I am searching for available scholarships. Hello. My name is Eunice Carpiso from the Philippines. I am currently majoring in Psychology and will be in 3rd year College this school year. I have been and still is a Dean's Lister on my school, from first year, first sem up to date. Due to the pandemic, our government and department of education implemented online classes. It would be unfair for people like me who cannot afford laptops and books that can aid in my learning. If I stop this school year, I will lose my position as a candidate for Latin Honors. I hope you will accept me and I promise to use the scholarship in my studies alone. I value learning and knowledge in my life and I would be grateful to be chosen. May God bless you! Thank you.

Alisha Mauga  on 8/4/2020 4:28:53 PM

Dear Scholarship Program, My name is Alisha Mauga, I am applying for this scholarship hoping to feel successful on being financially stable for school. I am 18, currently graduated from Legacy High School located in North Las Vegas. I moved here in between my senior year from Richmond, California, from that I experienced major difficulties in school, as well as my hope of graduating. However, once I moved, I lost all my scholarships which included grant that suppose to pay off all four years of college. I come from a family of struggle, two parents and 11 siblings that contain my heart to the fullest. Only one of my siblings were able to make it to college but did not get to graduate, based off of being financially unstable to pay off school so he continued to work. I come from a low income family which has brought many difficulties within my years of living, which has brought me on pushing myself inside and outside of school. I personally, struggled with school for many years which has led me into being the best version of myself. I was able to overcome those stages of doubt and depression into being a close straight A student based off of my grades within my freshman year up to my senior year. Until I moved, I managed to keep my grades up, yet it wasn't enough. Throughout my hard work and dedication towards my education, It was not given to me. I was Devasated, being both races Samoan and Tongan has been a huge inspiration yet a struggle coming from a big family. However, I was able to graduate with a good GPA following with a great experience of maturity and a grateful heart. I am also an undergraduate of University of San Francisco which is my dream school since I was in middle school. I will be majoring in Criminal Justice to overcome police brutality and racial problems which has been a major focus to me and hoping I could be that step of change. I hope to become a part of change within my community, my family, and for those who I love dearly. Thank you f

I want them to teach Languages for free, because I can really understand them. They can't afford or provide their childrens to go to school due to poverty. Isela L.  on 7/26/2020 1:07:41 AM

My name Isela Liulamaga my friends call me Bella. I am a freshman at Bellevue Community College. I am quarter Native American, quarter Mexican, and half Samoan, I will be majoring in History to become an Archaeologist, filling out this application, and other scholarships knowing I might not win but its important to face head on in failure that's part of I've grown up. Looking back and describing my life I see all the ways in which I am disadvantaged due to my socioeconomic status. But I think it's important to note that none of us were fully aware of anything growing up. I knew that my parents couldn't buy me everything because they had to support my other six siblings, my grandma, my 2 older brothers, and my uncle when they needed help. Right in that moment I made a commitment to my family to contribute financially in whatever way I could because your family will always be there for the ups and downs, so every once a month I would pitch in some money for the house bills. My sacrifice translated to a closer bond with my siblings and being the importance of being a good influence to them it's helped me understand the true meaning of a unified family and the valuable part I play in this.

Mallory S.  on 7/22/2020 9:36:18 AM

My name is Mallory Saluone. I was born in the United States to a Samoan dad and Caucasian mom. My family has always valued education, sending my Grandpa from Samoa to the states in order for him to be able to receive an education and raise his children to obtain one as well. After my dad graduated from BYU with a degree in Engineering, I wanted to follow in his footsteps and receive an education as well. I am attending Utah Valley University, majoring in Art and Design. I want to become an Animator so that I can share the culture and stories of my Island Heritage. I have always been proud of where my family came from, whether it be Samoa or the United States and Europe. Receiving this scholarship would help me further my education and encourage me to work harder for myself and my ancestors. Thank you for this opportunity.

Hi, I just moved here from Manila Philippines with my mom and my little brother after being granted our immigrant visa. I am now in highschool will graduate 2021. I want to be able to go to a university and pursue my dream in becoming a civil rights lawyer. My mom is a single parent with no child support and although it looks like impossible to be able to get to a university with our current financial situation, I am hopeful that I will be given the opportunity to get a scholarship program for I am determined not only to get a degree and get a good job but I want to help the community. It has been hard moving from a country where I grew up to a whole new different environment but it should not be a hindrance to get education neither is your current financial status.

Quezy May V.  on 7/10/2020 11:34:44 PM

Hi! My name is Quezy Villagonzalo I am a Filipino and I do believe that this scholarship will really help me a lot because my mom does not have a stable income or job and she's the only one who continued to raise us without my father cause he is already in heaven. I really want to pursue my dream to be a Psychologist. And since my brother was not able to finish his degree, I want to be the one who will finish my studies for my mom who is really striving hard to earn money just by selling any kind of products wherein the income is not that stable and it does really need a lot of hard work in order to earn. But that earning, is not sustainable enough to provide our needs as well as my tuition fees in school. Right now, we are in no work, no pay due to the crisis and school will start soon and I still have an outstanding balance that should be paid for me to proceed to 2nd yr college. I would love and I do hope to receive this scholarship. If ever I do so, I would really study hard and give back what my mom deserves. I will continue to pursue my dream with the help of this scholarship. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. Thank you so much and God Speed!

Tyrone T  on 5/28/2020 3:13:57 PM

Talofa. I'm Tyrone Taleni and I'm Samoan. I grew up in Samoa my whole life, and just recently moved to California two years ago in pursue of a college education. I made a huge move with a big risk of not being able to support myself and my schooling, considering how less fortunate my family is back in Samoa in terms of finance. Our family lives off the land, and I knew we could not afford to do that for the rest of our lives in order to provide for all our necessities. I've always known that education provides better means to be successful in many ways in life, and it has always been a dream of mine as well to attain a higher education and become a doctor one day to serve the general population, especially my Pacific Islander community that lacks access to proper medical care. Being able to win this scholarship will not only accomplish my dreams, but more importantly, it will put me in the best position to help serve my people and community, and administer to their needs. Helping and serving my people is the motive behind my determination to be successful in life.

I am an early college student, and on my senior year of high school. I am a trying my best to apply right now to any school scholarships for me as much as possible. Being Filipino, there’s not much scholarships for me out me. I am hoping I get noticed and get this scholarship, so my parents don’t have to worry about money. It is sad that in today’s colleges/university’s cost so much. I wish everyone who’s applying for scholarships luck. God bless.

I applied for this scholarship because as a first generation student of a low-income family, I would like to be able to go through college without stressing my parents out due to any financial obstacles that may appear. I know that they have a little money saved up for my education but I believe that they should save it more for their health as they get older. This scholarship would help my parents out a lot.

I am grateful for the opportunity to apply for these scholarships. The tuition, room, board and other fees associated with college are a bit overwhelming to say the least. My family and I would be extremely grateful for any help we can get to help pay some of these expenses. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I applied for this scholarship, because i am a student first generation that will go to college in my family. Being the oldest of 3, I have always supported my family. I participate in many clubs and activities around school. If I get this scholarship, it would be very helpful for me to pay for my study materials.
