  • Scholarship Description
  • NMF is pleased to announce the Aetna/NMF Primary Care Fellows (PCF) program that will provide a mentored service-learning program of proactive community service encouraging the use of technology, health policy review, and leadership training in a variety of healthcare-related settings in Metropolitan DC. The focus of this program will be to strengthen capacity in future physicians by enhancing knowledge and understanding of issues of health information technology, policy, and primary care access.

    Program highlights:
    -Completion of a community health project focused on health information technology, health policy and/or primary care delivery
    -Written report
    -Visual presentation
    -Leadership training program including interaction with organizational executives
    -Participation in the distance learning curriculum on the NMF website
    -Access to a network of local faculty and alumni mentors and site placement advisors
    -Culminating event - joint forum with healthcare leaders
    -Program evaluation

    Eligibility:
    -Is a US citizen
    -Identifies with one of the following underrepresented minority groups: African American, Latino, Native American, or Asian American (Vietnamese or Cambodian only)
    -Has demonstrated leadership at an early stage
    -Is committed to serving medically underserved communities

    Two personal statements discussing:
    1. Your personal and professional motivation for a medical career, your commitment to primary care and service in a health and/or community settings, your motivation for working to reduce health disparities, and your commitment to improving healthcare (500-1,000 words)
    2. Your experiences that are preparing you to ultimately practice in an underserved community, including challenges you have overcome, and unique perspectives or skills you bring to practicing medicine in an underserved community (500-1,000 words)

Midway through his "It's OK to be White" speech at the University of Connecticut, Conservative commentator Lucian Wintrich was arrested and charged with attempted larceny and disorderly conduct after he grabbed a woman who had swiped his notes off his lectern. The charges have since been dropped and in a reversal, the woman was arrested and charged with attempted larceny and disorderly conduct.

Stanford Business School officials have admitted to giving steep price breaks to preferred applicants while on their website, for years, claimed that "all fellowships are need based." The news came after one student discovered a glitch on their website that gave public access to confidential student financial aid records. [...]
