  • Scholarship Description
  • Florida State university scholarships offered by the Office of Admissions are typically awarded at the time of your acceptance as a first-year student. All accepted students are automatically considered for a scholarship. The scholarship criteria can vary from year-to-year depending on the academic profile of the incoming class and the funds that are available. Scholarships are very competitive and awarded based on academic merit (combination of academic weighted grade point average AND test scores). Students who are awarded a scholarship have typically earned no grades below B.

The Vires Scholarship is inspired by the Latin word Vires, one of the three torches found on our university seal symbolizing strength. Students who are given this award have demonstrated excellence in rigorous academic coursework. Applicants are automatically considered for the Vires Scholarship. A separate application is not required. The Florida State University's Vires Scholarship is a total amount of $12,000, which will be distributed throughout eight semesters in $1,500 increments at the beginning of each fall and spring term. This is renewable upon enrollment in 15 credits per semester and a 3.0 GPA. For more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.

Good evening, My name is Armando Nunez, and I am looking forward to attending FSU. FSU has been in my radar for a while now. I am first generation college student. I was raised by a single Mom who worked very hard to provide me with what I needed. She was not able to attend college, but managed to get certified and became a medical coder. I would be honored if you choose me as one of the receivers of this amazing opportunity. thank you in advance, Armando Nunez

Good evening, My name is Saniyah K Mathis and I will be a first generation college student once accepted. I am originally from New Jersey and moved t Florida in 2007. Florida State was the first school that caught my interest when I entered junior high. Everything about the school caught my eye especially when I did the tour back in May. From the moment I stepped on the campus I knew this was where I wanted to call home for four years. The tour helped me realize that FSU is a family and where I can further my education to reach ultimate success.

To whom it may concern, I applied for this scholarship because this school is one of the few on my list to attend. If I attend FSU I will lead by example to my siblings and be the first in the family to graduate and excel after college
