Scholarship Description

Due to the generosity of anonymous donors, The Vegetarian Resource Group each year will award college scholarship money to graduating U.S. high school students who have promoted veganism in their schools and/or communities. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or fowl. Vegans are vegetarians who do not use other animal products such as dairy or eggs.

Scholarship Details

  • One scholarship award of $10,000 and five scholarship awards of $5,000 are available
  • Additional runner-up prizes may also be given
  • Recognizes students who have promoted veganism in their schools or communities
  • Applicants are judged on compassion, courage, and commitment to a peaceful world through vegan living
  • Scholarship payments are made directly to the student’s U.S.-based college

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating high school student in the United States in spring 2026
  • Must have promoted veganism or a vegan lifestyle in school and or the community
  • Must demonstrate dedication to compassion and peaceful living through dietary choices
  • Must plan to attend a U.S.-based college

Application Process

  1. Prepare a typed application document or download and complete the official PDF application form
  2. Write your scholarship essay and save it as a separate attachment with your first name and last initial
  3. Email your application materials with your name and scholarship application in the subject line or mail them to the Vegetarian Resource Group office
  4. Ensure all attachments are accessible and properly formatted as PDF or Word documents
  5. Application deadline is February 20th
  6. Monitor your email or phone for finalist requests and scholarship winner notifications

Applicants will be judged on having shown compassion, courage, and a strong commitment to promoting a peaceful world through a vegan diet/lifestyle. Payment will be made to the student's college (U.S. based only). Winners of the scholarships give permission to release their names to the media.
