Scholarship Description

The Marine Protected Area Collaborative Network (MPACN) Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Scholarship Program is focused on providing financial support to AAPI students majoring in environmental science disciplines at accredited California colleges.

Scholarship Details

  • $1,250 award granted to one recipient each year
  • Funds can be used for educational experiences related to marine protection (e.g., scuba lessons, relevant courses, events)
  • Supports AAPI students pursuing degrees in environmental or social science fields
  • Open to both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in California colleges
  • Scholarship funds must be used by December

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must identify as Asian American or Pacific Islander
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in California
  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students
  • Must be enrolled in at least 8 units of coursework
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Preference given to majors in marine biology, oceanography, environmental studies, or cultural studies

Application Process

  1. Complete the scholarship application via the designated Google Form
  2. Submit all required materials by the application deadline
  3. Applications will be reviewed from December 12th to December 18th
  4. Recipient will be notified by December 23rd
  5. Ensure scholarship funds are used for approved educational activities by the end of December

Scholarship recipients may also use the funds for activities related to marine protection, including but not limited to scuba lessons, enrollment in relevant courses or events, and other educational experiences.
