The Marine Protected Area Collaborative Network (MPACN) Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Scholarship Program is focused on providing financial support to AAPI students majoring in environmental science disciplines at accredited California colleges.
Scholarship Details
- Award of $1,250 to one recipient annually
- Funds can be used for educational activities related to marine protection, such as scuba lessons, relevant courses, or other experiences
- Supports AAPI students pursuing environmental or social science degrees
Eligibility Criteria
- Currently enrolled at an accredited higher education institution in California
- Open to undergraduate and graduate students
- Minimum GPA of 2.0
- Must be enrolled in at least eight units of coursework
- Strong preference for majors in fields such as marine biology, oceanography, environmental studies, or cultural studies
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application via the provided Google Form
- Submit all required materials by the deadline: December 11, 2024
Selection Process
- Applications will be evaluated between December 12 and December 18, 2024
- Recipient will be selected based on eligibility, academic performance, and alignment with environmental or social science disciplines
- Notification of award will be sent by December 23, 2024
- Funds must be utilized by December 2025
Scholarship recipients may also use the funds for activities related to marine protection, including but not limited to scuba lessons, enrollment in relevant courses or events, and other educational experiences.
