ACB-Ohio Scholarships are awarded to one or more blind or low vision student in any field of study, or sighted student in a field of study directly benefiting the blind and low vision community. This scholarship is open to students in trade or technical schools, 2- or 4-year undergraduate degree programs, graduate degree programs, or other postsecondary study, such as for continuing education, special certification, or licensure.
Scholarship Details
- $1,000 Friends of Freshman Scholarship: For a blind or low-vision student entering their freshman year in any field of study.
- $3,000-$5,000 ACB-Ohio Scholarships: For blind or low-vision students in any field of study, or sighted students pursuing a degree that directly benefits the blind and low-vision community.
- Scholarships may be awarded to students attending trade or technical schools, 2- or 4-year undergraduate programs, graduate degree programs, or other postsecondary study.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be an Ohio resident or attend an Ohio postsecondary school.
- Must be blind, low vision, or studying a field that directly benefits the blind and low-vision community.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Application Process
- Complete and submit the scholarship application by March 31, 2025.
- The ACBO scholarship committee will contact applicants via email to schedule an interview in April.
- Interviews will take place via Zoom or phone call on a mutually agreed date.
- Finalists will be notified by May 15th.
- Scholarship recipients will be required to complete a short audio recording with a committee member for use during the ACBO state convention.
Following the application deadline (March 31st), the scholarship committee will reach out to you via e-mail to schedule an interview with two committee members. This interview will take place via Zoom or phone call during the second half of April on a mutually agreed upon date and time.
