Scholarship Description

The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) California Scholarship Foundation offers up to $10,000 to Californian college students studying engineering or land surveying.

Scholarship Details

  • ACEC Scholarships range from $1,000 to $10,000.
  • Additional awards may be available for students in the Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego areas.
  • Merit-based and need-based scholarships are available.
  • Students pursuing careers in healthcare are ineligible.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be enrolled full-time at an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved school in California.
  • Only rising juniors, seniors, fifth year students, and master's students are eligible to apply. Master's students may be enrolled half-time in their program and remain eligible.
  • Applicants must major in engineering or land surveying.
  • Applicants to the ACEC California State Competition must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher in their engineering program to be eligible; their overall GPA must be 3.0 or higher.

Application Process

  1. Complete the FAFSA if you plan to apply to ACEC's need-based scholarships.
  2. Gather all required documents, including:
    • Your unofficial transcripts
    • A record of your work experience in the past 3 years
    • A letter of recommendation from a mentor, preferably one involved in engineering or land surveying (this will be submitted on the recommender's end via the ACEC recommendation form)
    • A record of your extracurricular activities, including student organizations, community involvement, athletics, musicianship, and more
  3. Create an account with the ACEC Research Institute and complete their general application.
  4. Navigate to the ACEC California Scholarship Foundation submission portal and fill out the application for the scholarship to which you wish to apply, including 2 essay questions with a maximum of 250 words each.
  5. Upload all required documents and submit your completed application before the deadline.
  6. Ensure your recommender has completed the ACEC recommendation form before the deadline.

Applying for an ACEC California scholarship will grant you access to a database of ACEC scholarships via the ACEC Research Institute Scholarship portal.
