The AFA Teen Alzheimer’s Awareness Scholarship recognizes students who have been personally impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and want to share their experiences. This scholarship encourages students to reflect on their personal journey while promoting greater understanding of Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
Scholarship Details
- Applicants must submit either a written essay or a video, but not both
- Written essays must be no more than 1,500 words
- Video submissions must be in MP4 format, no longer than 4 minutes, and under 1.5 GB
- All submissions must answer three required questions about the applicant's experience with Alzheimer's disease, lessons learned, and plans to raise awareness
- The combined size of all uploaded files must be less than 2 GB
Eligibility Criteria
- Must currently be a high school senior
- Must be a United States citizen residing in the United States
- Must plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States immediately after graduating from high school
Application Process
- Create your essay or video addressing the following questions:
- How has Alzheimer's disease changed or impacted your life?
- What have you learned about yourself, your family, and/or your community while coping with Alzheimer's disease?
- What are your plans to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease and dementia?
- Obtain a copy of your high school transcript; an unofficial transcript is acceptable
- Verify that your essay or video meets the required formatting and file size guidelines
- Ensure the combined size of all uploaded files is under 2 GB
- Upload your essay or video along with your transcript and submit your completed application
