Scholarship Description

Every year, the American Airlines Education Foundation is proud to care for our team members by awarding $2,500 scholarships to their children attending college. First-generation college students can receive an additional one-time award of $1,000.

Scholarship Details

  • $2,500 scholarship award
  • First-generation college students may receive an additional one-time $1,000 award
  • Scholarships support full-time undergraduate study
  • Funds may be used at accredited colleges, universities, or vocational programs worldwide
  • Students may reapply each year as long as they continue to meet the eligibility criteria

Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the academic year
  • Attending an accredited college, university, community college, or trade school
  • Dependent son or daughter of an active American Airlines Group team member
  • Parent or guardian must have at least one year of employment with American Airlines
  • Team member must be employed at American Airlines at the time awards are announced

Application Process

  1. Complete the Education Foundation Scholarship application
  2. Provide academic records and achievement information
  3. Submit details on leadership roles, activities, employment, and community service
  4. Submit the FAFSA if applying for consideration based on financial need

The foundation selects scholarship recipients based on outstanding academic achievement, community service, leadership and financial need. Scholarships fund full-time, undergraduate study at any accredited college, university or vocational program worldwide. In 2024, the Education Foundation awarded nearly $1 million in scholarships to 336 students.
