The AMS Fellowship Program is a source of unique opportunities for outstanding students looking to pursue graduate education in the atmospheric or related sciences. To date, 388 students have been designated as AMS fellowship recipients.
Scholarship Details
- Fellowships for first year graduate students in atmospheric and related sciences
- Stipend amounts range from $5,000 to $26,000 for a nine month academic period
- Includes partial travel support to attend the AMS Annual Meeting
- Provides complimentary meeting registration, hotel, and airfare for recipients
- Offers academic and career support throughout the fellowship period
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be entering the first year of graduate school in the coming fall
- Applicant must pursue a degree in atmospheric or related sciences at a U.S. accredited institution
- Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Applicants from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply
Application Process
- Complete all sections of the fellowship application
- Upload required supporting documents and official transcripts
- Provide three written references
- Submit the full application before the January 23rd deadline
Prospective candidates from the fields of atmospheric sciences, chemistry, computer sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, hydrology, mathematics, oceanography, and physics are encouraged to apply. A candidate must complete all sections of the application and upload all required supporting documents. Complete all application tasks, provide three written references, and relevant official transcripts.
