The Arkansas Rural Health Scholarship was created by Dr. Rhys Branman to support, empower, and encourage medical students in Arkansas who are interested in practicing medicine in rural areas of Arkansas.
Scholarship Details
- Award Amount: $2,500
- Usage: Tuition fees, textbooks, supplies, required technology
- Disbursement: Cash prize directly to the student (subject to tax)
- Purpose: To support medical students committed to practicing in rural Arkansas
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a current resident of Arkansas
- Must be an undergraduate or postgraduate medical student at an Arkansas institution
- Must be pursuing a degree in a medical specialty with a focus on rural health
- Must demonstrate a commitment to serving rural communities upon graduation
- Must submit one letter of recommendation with valid contact information
- Must complete the application form with original essay answers

- Submit the application between March 10th and June 6th
Financial aid is an important tool in building the health workforce in rural communities through recruitment and retention. To help address this national and regional problem, Dr. Branman has developed a scholarship program to assist new healthcare students with the burden of cost while encouraging them to serve and practice in underserved areas. This brand-new scholarship program is intended to attract and support those who will thrive and remain in a rural community in the state of Arkansas.
