Scholarship Description

The ASPCA Veterinary Scholarship Program is intended for veterinary and veterinary technician students who are committed to working for at least three (3) years post-graduation in the animal welfare field. This could include working in non-profit or municipal shelter medicine, community-centered medicine, for a HQHVSN (high-quality, high-volume spay-neuter program), with at-risk equines, or in the field of pasture-based or humane agriculture.

Scholarship Details

  • Veterinary students may receive up to $33,333 per year with a maximum total of $100,000
  • Veterinary technician students may receive up to $10,000 per year with a maximum total of $20,000
  • Scholarships may be renewable based on criteria established by the ASPCA
  • Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and required equipment

Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled for the full academic year in an AVMA-accredited veterinary or veterinary technician program
  • In year two or later of the program during the coming academic year
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Commitment to work for at least three years post-graduation in the animal welfare field
  • Demonstrated financial need

Application Process

  2. Complete all required application sections and essays
  3. Submit academic, service, work experience, and financial information
  4. Submit the completed application by March 3rd

Through financial support and sustained engagement with the ASPCA, this program aims to strengthen the veterinary workforce at shelters and mission-driven organizations, expand access to veterinary care and cultivate a community of professionals dedicated to improving the lives of animals.
