Assistance League of Boise provides tuition/textbook educational scholarships for graduating, hard of hearing, Idaho high school seniors or continuing higher education students who reside in Ada County. The scholarships are conditioned upon the recipient’s enrollment at an accredited two or four-year college, university, vocational institution, beauty college, or school of the arts in the United States.
Scholarship Details
- Initial awards are based on financial need, academic performance, leadership, and extracurricular involvement
- Scholarship funds are sent directly to the recipient's educational institution after enrollment is confirmed
- Scholarships may be renewed for up to three additional years based on committee approval
- Renewal decisions consider academic progress, leadership, financial need, other scholarship assistance received, and the number of renewal applications
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a hard of hearing student
- Must be graduating from an Idaho high school and reside in Ada County, or attend the Idaho State School for the Deaf and Blind with parents residing in Ada County
- Continuing higher education students may also apply
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application in full
- Submit an original, signed high school or college transcript, depending on your current educational status
- Provide complete financial information demonstrating your financial need
- Submit two one-page letters of recommendation for an initial scholarship, including at least one from a teacher, counselor, or school administrator and one from a non-relative who can speak to your character and achievements
- Include verification of your hearing impairment from a certified audiologist if applying for an initial scholarship
- If applying for a renewal scholarship, submit an updated application, an original signed transcript, and current financial information
