The AWMA: AMS Scholarship Program supports high school seniors and undergraduate students pursuing careers in environmental fields. This scholarship is available to qualified students who live and attend college within the geographical area served by the AMS. Awards are determined by the Scholarship Award Committee based on the completeness and quality of each application.
Scholarship Details
- This is an annual scholarship program
- Awards may be made to suitably qualified candidates by the Scholarship Award Committee

- Applicants are evaluated without consideration of race, sex, national origin, financial need, age, or physical disability.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be high school seniors accepted full time into a four- or five-year college or university program, or undergraduate students currently enrolled in a college or university program
- The program of study must lead to a career in an environmental field such as environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental law, or another environmentally related field
- Applicants must live within the geographical area served by the AMS
- Applicants should have at least a B average or a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application in full
- Write and submit a one-page, typed essay discussing your interest in environmental science, environmental engineering, or another environmentally related field
- Obtain and submit a letter of recommendation from an academic advisor
- Submit a letter of acceptance from the college or university (high school students may provide a copy of their Letter of Acceptance as proof of enrollment)
- Submit a copy of your most recent college or high school transcript
- Prepare and submit a current resume
- Review the application and supporting materials to ensure the submission is complete and addresses your academic goals, environmental interests, and qualifications
