The Catholic Community Foundation of Southwest Florida is proudly offering the "Barry L. Carey, M.D. Scholarship", an academic scholarship made possible through the Catholic Legacy of Dr. Barry Carey and his loving family.
Scholarship Details
- One renewable scholarship of approximately $400 awarded annually
- Available to graduating seniors from Catholic, private, public, or home schools within the Diocese of Venice counties
- Designed specifically for first-generation college students
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a current high school senior in the Diocese of Venice (Catholic, private, public, or home school)
- Must be the first generation in their family to attend college or university
- Must be accepted into an accredited college or university
- Must demonstrate strong academic performance and involvement in extracurricular activities, volunteering, work, clubs, or teams
Application Process
- Complete the online scholarship application and financial needs assessment
- Obtain and submit the Verification of Parish Affiliation form
- Prepare and submit an essay explaining what your Catholic faith has meant to you and how it has shaped your life
- Provide documentation of acceptance to an accredited college or university
- Submit your academic record and list of extracurricular, volunteer, or work activities
- Ensure all application materials are submitted by the stated deadline through the Catholic Community Foundation website
The Barry L. Carey, M.D. Scholarship can be used for tuition, books, fees and housing expenses. *Members or relatives of the Catholic Community Foundation staff, Board of Directors, the Office of Catholic Schools, the Scholarship Committee or Barry L. Carey are ineligible to apply.
