The Bart Pitman Scholarship is awarded annually to two high school seniors pursuing a major in classical piano or organ. The first-place winner will receive $6,000, while the runner-up will be awarded $3,000. This scholarship supports talented young musicians as they begin their studies at a degree-granting conservatory, college, or university.
Scholarship Details
- Open to high school seniors majoring in classical piano or organ
- Applicants must perform three pieces from contrasting periods or composers
- Selections are made by a jury of professional keyboard musicians
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a graduating high school senior
- Must be a resident of or studying with a teacher residing in NY, DE, PA, or NJ
- Must play piano or organ
- Must be accepted into a degree-granting music school
Application Process
- Prepare three pieces from the standard classical piano or organ repertoire
- Auditions can be live or submitted online (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
- Provide proof of acceptance into a degree-granting music school
- Winner must perform at the Delaware Valley Music Club's Young Performers Concert during the March college break
