Scholarship Description

The Bart Pitman Scholarship is awarded annually to two high school seniors pursuing a major in classical piano or organ. The first-place winner will receive $6,000, while the runner-up will be awarded $3,000. This scholarship supports talented young musicians as they begin their studies at a degree-granting conservatory, college, or university.

Scholarship Details

  • Open to high school seniors majoring in classical piano or organ
  • Applicants must perform three pieces from contrasting periods or composers
  • Selections are made by a jury of professional keyboard musicians

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating high school senior
  • Must be a resident of or studying with a teacher residing in NY, DE, PA, or NJ
  • Must play piano or organ
  • Must be accepted into a degree-granting music school

Application Process

  1. Prepare three pieces from the standard classical piano or organ repertoire
  2. Auditions can be live or submitted online (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
  3. Provide proof of acceptance into a degree-granting music school
  4. Winner must perform at the Delaware Valley Music Club's Young Performers Concert during the March college break
