Each year since 1996, the Ames Alumni Chapter of Beta Sigma Psi have offered the Darryl Jahn Memorial Scholarship to incoming Lutheran men who are enrolled to attend Iowa State University. During that time, we have awarded over $50,000 to the two or three applicants each year who best exemplify the purposes and ideals of Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity.
Scholarship Details
- Awarded annually by the Ames Alumni Chapter of Beta Sigma Psi
- Named in honor of Darryl Jahn, an alumnus recognized for his leadership and dedication
- Supports Lutheran men who demonstrate leadership in academics, sports, church, and philanthropic endeavors
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Lutheran male freshman enrolling at Iowa State University
- Selected based on scholastic achievement and community involvement
- No requirement to join Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity to apply
Application Process
- Complete application with personal and educational information
- Detail your involvement in community and church activities
- Submit evidence of academic achievements and leadership roles
- Write an essay or personal statement as required by the scholarship committee
- Participate in any interviews or additional evaluations if selected as a finalist
The Alumni of Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran fraternity will be awarding three scholarships to Lutheran gentlemen entering Iowa State University in the fall of the year the scholarship is offered. Applicants will be evaluated on their scholastic achievement and active participation in their communities and churches. The top candidates will be invited to Iowa State University for an interview. Applications are due three times a year (in February, April and July).
