This scholarship was established by the Murray Family in 1998. It was created to reward students who demonstrate good citizenship and have a record of sound academic achievement. Baton Rouge Magnet High School faculty members can nominate graduating senior students who have shown leadership and initiative to help others within the school and community. Applicants to the Aaron Bernard Murray & Fay Tyler Murray Education Encouragement Award must be graduating from Baton Rouge Magnet High School with sound academic achievement and demonstrate good citizenship.
Applicants must show leadership qualities within and beyond their peer group and must have taken initiatives in school and/or the broader civic life of the community. Only students nominated by a teacher or school administrator are eligible to apply. In addition, applicants must submit a transcript, an academic resume, recommendation letters, an an essay highlighting your leadership potential as displayed in extracurricular activities, community service, and other achievements or honors.
