The BYU Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship offered at Brigham Young University. Recipients are among the most academically gifted students who enter the university. Recipients are among the most academically gifted students who enter the university. However, the scholarship is not awarded on academic merit alone. Recipients must also demonstrate the highest standards of character, leadership, integrity, testimony, devotion to the Church, and modesty in word, action, dress, and grooming.

Scholarship Details

• Fifty new entering freshmen are selected each year
• The scholarship is valued at 150% of Latter-day Saint tuition
• The award is available for eight semesters
• Selection considers both academic achievement and personal qualities
• The scholarship committee reviews information from the scholarship application and the student's admissions application

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a new entering freshman at Brigham Young University
• Must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement
• Must demonstrate high standards of character, leadership, and integrity
• Must demonstrate testimony and devotion to the Church
• Must demonstrate modesty in word, action, dress, and grooming consistent with the values outlined in For the Strength of Youth
• Must submit an ACT or SAT score for scholarship consideration

Application Process

1. Complete the required application for admission to Brigham Young University.
2. Complete the regular BYU scholarship application.
3. Complete the essay portion of the scholarship application.
4. Submit an ACT or SAT score for consideration.
5. Ensure the admissions and scholarship applications contain all requested information for review by the scholarship committee.
6. Submit all required materials by the applicable BYU scholarship deadline.
